FASKOLOR INFORMATION

fasflip.
Fasflip colours are applied over the top of a base colour and create a metalflake finish with a change of colour when viewed from different angles. As a general rule three or four light coats are needed before spraying on the base colour but it's a case of the more you put on , the stronger the colour will be. Dark colours work best as bases with black creating the most dramaticfinisht, but all colours will create their own individual effect, it's up to you to experiment and find out what you like best. Maple changes from gold through bronze with a bit of green on the way, Jade goes from green to gold, Scarabeus changes from blue to green and Sapphire changes from a dark blue to whatever the base colour is. If it's the first time you have used a particular type of paint it's always a good idea to have a try out on a scrap piece of lexan to get the effect right. Keep all the old offcuts from bodies, they're great for this. Use Fasflip straight out of the bottle, no thinning is necessary. With a gravity or side feed airbrush the paint can be squeezed out of the bottle (it has a cap and nozzle like a washing up liquid bottle)straight into the colour cup. With bottom feed airbrushes the original paint bottle can be filled or the Faskolor bottle adaptor (part no 402420) can be used. This screws straight onto the top of the Faskolor bottle and plugs into the bottom of the airbrush in the paint feed hole. Spray at a pressure of between 50 and 70 psi laying down light coats drying each one with a hairdryer before applying the next.

faschange.
Faschange colours are applied over the top of a base colour and create a shimmering metallic highlight which subtly changes the overall effect when viewed from different angles. Only one or two coats are needed as the effect is quite strong but be sure not to put too heavy a coat on as doing so will cause the colour to 'pool' into blobs instead of giving an even covering over the body. If it's the first time you have used a particular type of paint it's always a good idea to have a try out on a scrap piece of lexan to get the effect right. Keep all the old offcuts from bodies, they're great for this.
Use Faschange straight out of the bottle, no thinning is necessary. Spray at a pressure of between 50 and 70 psi laying down light coats drying each one with a hairdryer before applying the next.

fasglitter.
Painters of full size cars call it Metalflake but scaled down, and the particles are scaled down, it's called Fasglitter. To spray Fasglitter mix it with Faskoat (part no 40200), around one part glitter to four parts Faskoat by volume is a good starting point as this will not put too much glitter on each coat and allow how it is covering to be gauged. Once experience is gained the proportions can be altered. The pressure of the airbrush needs to be set high, around 70 psi, and holding it back a little from the bodyshell, around 40 to 50 cm, with the needle set open just lay coats on drying each one before applying the next. How much to put on is really down to personal taste but to begin with three or four coats of glitter is a good starting point. The layers of glitter are then backed with a complimentary colour to finish the job. To be safe and to satisfy personal taste it's always wise the first time you use a paint to have a try-out on a piece of lexan offcut to get used to application and in the case of Fasglitter get the number of layers and backing colour right.
